Information about 1970's Blue Jeans

The 1970's were the start of the fashion craze

70's Blue Jeans
The start of the fashion age. Different styles of jeans were made, to match the 60's fashions like embroidered jeans, painted jeans, psychedelic jeans, bell bottom jeans get there start. In many non-western countries, jeans became a symbol of ' western decadence' and were very hard to get. In America HASH blue jeans were bell bottom and had a double-star design and the letters H.A.S.H. stiched in gold thread on the back right pocket. Many teenagers cut-off the pant legs to make shorts with frayed fringes. Another pair of jeans available were Banana Jeans.Instead of the buckle in the front, it was in the back, right below the small of the back & they were very high waisted. Cheap jeans were high-waisted blue jeans without an outside seam. The only pockets on these gems were square pieces of material sewn on--two on the front and two on the back. They appeared to be patterned after Naval trousers. You could find Dittos Jeans in stores and these were the first must-have label jeans. They came in a large array of colors and styles with names like "Hi-rise". They were so popular (at least in southern California). After this, many other "label" jeans/clothing became popular. Jordache Jeans (late 70's-very early 80's) were next in line. They were tight jeans, dark blue the best, actually ironing them was a good idea. Palamento Jeans, they were a brand name of jeans that after Levis was the most wanted by teen-agers you had to go to the mall to get them and many people remember Sasson Jeans or at least thier commercial, "Oooh, la la, Sasson!" A. Smile Jeans were THE JEANS that gave any butt a good shape. There slogan had a donkey at the end, it said, Put A, Smile On Your (ASS) These jeans were the original Stove Pipe jeans, about 12 inches wide all the way down. The other cool thing about them were the flap pockets that went straight down right at the belt line and only about 4 fingers wide and 3 inches deep. There was no sewn outline to the pocket, they were hanging on the inside of the pants with just a rectangular flap (with the bottom coming more to a point)sewn on to cover the opening.

Cash in your Closet.
>> The next time you clean out your closet search for old jeans that were never worn. It could lead you to some cash. Many people are looking for jeans from the past and they pay quite nicely for a pair that has not been worn.
